When we were dating my future husband had a runny nose all year long. He had allergies but wouldn’t believe me. He used nose spray that opened up his nose passages and it made the allergies worse. But he felt he could breathe better. I think he became a nose spray addict! Well he finally had testing done and found out yes he had allergies. He then went on some prescription allergy nose spray. It helped quite a bit but cost at least $30 a month. We are married by this time and had two kids and let just say not finacially free. I wasn’t happy at the cost and I felt that he was dependant on drugs. A short time after starting the new spray I joined Young Living Essential Oils.
I was always attracted to natural oils and wanted to know more. My first experiment was to fix my husbands allergies. So I read a bit and did some muscle testing and bought a bottle of basil oil. The price was about $18. About half the cost of the spray. So in the morning my husband put the basil oil on the outside of his nose. It would clear his passages instantly. Then he’d do it again for bedtime. He put the oil on for about 4 months. He went through about half a bottle. And he stopped putting it on. He didn’t have allergy problems after that for a quite a few years.
Then slowly the allergens built up in his body and started the problem again. He would always get fed up with the allergies when he was out at work so he’d go to the drug store and buy nose spray. He would miss use them as usual.(use to much and for to long) Then I’d find out about the drugs..not happy! I’d make him try oils again. He’d always be surprised that they’d work so well. So he stay on them for a while and his nose would be clear for a year or so and the process would start again. What I’ve learned is-first, my husband drives me crazy. second, allergies can be controlled or taken away with essential oils. He can’t get rid of his because he is allergic to dust…we live in a dusty place and I hate dusting. He is also allergic to feathers and we sleep with a down comforter and are not willing to give it up…stupid I know. But we can control his allergies and be symptom free by using oils. He doesn’t need to use them daily but when he nose is giving him problems he need to use them for a few weeks and they will be gone for at least a year. We also have learned that changing the oil he used every year or two helps. He used Basil for years and then it wasn’t as effective so he went to nose spray. He just had to try other oils until he found on that worked to his satisfaction. Rosewood is his favorite…for now anyway. Oils always work best for him. He just gets too lazy to look for the bottle he wants and open the lid and put it on his finger to put on his nose. Grabbing a bottle and squeezing into his nose is easier. Caveman just came to mind! Anyway oils are cheaper, more effective immediately and long term and no chemicals.
